For most professionally printed decks, the practical answer is about $55 to $105 before premium finishes.
The cheapest advertised card is not necessarily the cheapest completed deck. Calculate the entire order, including the commander, basic lands, tokens, shipping, and any specialty options. Proxy pricing has enough tier cliffs to make 100 cards cheaper than 99, because apparently deck building was not already giving us sufficient arithmetic.

Yes, 100 cards calculate to less than 75 cards under those listed tiers. This is especially important when deciding whether to print basic lands. A deck with 25 basic lands may appear to need only 75 printed cards, but the 75-card order would calculate to $60 while the complete 100-card deck would calculate to $55.
Confirm the final cart total before paying, since prices can change. But do not assume that removing cards always saves money.
What Should Be Included In The Order?
Start with the full 100-card deck, including the commander and basic lands. Then add the game pieces the deck actually creates:
- Creature and artifact tokens
- Copy tokens
- Emblems
- Transforming or double-faced helper cards
- Monarch, initiative, dungeon, experience, or similar reminder pieces
A light token package may need 5 to 10 cards. A token-heavy deck may need 15 to 30 or more. At the current $0.55 tier, adding 10 tokens raises a $55 deck to $60.50 before shipping. Adding 20 raises it to $66.
That is usually better than placing a separate token order later at a small-order price. Still, there is no need to buy three copies of every token just because the deck can theoretically create them. Commander boards generate enough clutter without advance planning.
Costs Beyond The 100 Cards

A $55 subtotal is not automatically a $55 delivered order. ProxyMTG and PrintMTG currently advertise free shipping above $75, so a basic 100-card order falls below that threshold. The final amount depends on the destination and checkout options.
Add useful tokens, alternate commanders, or another deck when you genuinely need them. Do not add $20 of unwanted cards merely to avoid a smaller shipping charge.
Foil And Specialty Finishes
Foil pricing can change the total dramatically. PrintingProxies currently lists a $2 per-card foil surcharge at 100 or more foils. At its standard rate, a 100-card all-foil deck calculates to $300 before the published $5 U.S. shipping charge.
At that price, foil consistency, curl, glare, and durability matter. Shiny is a finish, not a quality-control system.
Double-Faced Cards
Modal double-faced cards, transforming cards, and double-sided tokens require correct front-to-back pairing. Confirm how the service handles them before checkout. A cheap card printed with the wrong reverse side is simply a discounted problem.
Sleeves And Storage
The quoted card price usually does not include sleeves, inner sleeves, or a deck box. Use opaque sleeves when mixing proxies with official cards, and check that the finished stack handles consistently.
Is It Cheaper To Print Only The Expensive Cards?
It can be, particularly when you already own most of the deck. Printing 10 to 20 costly staples may be more sensible than replacing an otherwise complete list.
PrintMTG is a strong value option for a smaller, changing upgrade package. ProxyKing is worth considering when physical quality matters more than price and the needed cards are available in its prepared catalog.
If you need most of the list, however, a complete deck is usually simpler. At a $55 deck subtotal, ordering 75 cards instead of 100 may save nothing and can even cost more because of the quantity break.
What Do Multiple Decks Cost?
Combining lists can reduce the effective cost quickly. Under the current ProxyMTG and PrintMTG tiers:
- Two 100-card decks calculate to $90 total, or $45 per deck.
- Five 100-card decks calculate to $175 total, or $35 per deck.
The five-deck total comes from the lower 500-card tier. It is worth pricing a complete playgroup order before splitting it into separate carts.
For very large Cube or playgroup orders, MakePlayingCards with MPCFill may also become competitive. That route offers more control over cardstock and custom backs, but it requires more file preparation and a less beginner-friendly manufacturing workflow. For one ordinary Commander deck, a dedicated MTG service is usually the cleaner choice.
