Company Overview

Cardmire was a U.S.-based seller of replica-style MTG cards. The company focused on prepared reproductions designed to resemble particular official Magic printings rather than clearly marked playtest cards, alternate-art proxies, or user-created custom cards.

The business became especially well known for reproductions of older and expensive cards, including Power Nine cards, Revised dual lands, fetch lands, Reserved List staples, and other cards commonly used in Vintage, Legacy, and Commander decks.

History and Former Names

Cardmire appears to have begun operating under the name Proxyhaus or MTGProxyHaus. Proxyhaus sold MTG reproductions through Etsy during 2016 before the business resurfaced under the Cardmire name and moved customers toward Cardmire.com.

The first Cardmire generation is commonly called Cardmire 1 or CM1 by collectors and members of the replica-card community. These names refer to a production generation rather than a separate company.

Cardmire later operated through its own website, an Etsy storefront, and an eCRATER storefront. The exact legal business name, formal founding date, and corporate structure have not been verified.

Products and Ordering Model

Cardmire primarily sold prepared individual cards, small sets, and bulk packs. Its catalog concentrated on desirable cards for which buyers were more likely to pay for a carefully prepared replica instead of submitting an entire deck to a print-on-demand service.

Historical reports indicate that customers could order individual cards and receive quantity discounts on larger purchases. The service did not appear to offer the modern decklist importers, searchable card databases, or automated custom-card tools now provided by larger print-on-demand services.

Historical Product Reputation

Cardmire’s earliest products developed a strong reputation within the replica-card community. Historical customer reports frequently praised the surface feel, card backs, stiffness, finish, and appearance of certain older-frame cards. Its Power Nine reproductions became particularly well known, and surviving CM1 cards are still discussed by collectors of historical replica products.

The results were not uniformly strong. Contemporary reviews also reported fuzzy rules text, softer image detail, centering problems, color differences, and substantial variation from one card to another. Later Cardmire batches received more mixed feedback, with some customers describing a glossier finish and less consistent physical quality.

Current Operating Status

Cardmire no longer appears to operate as an MTG replica seller. Its dedicated MTG storefront disappeared after its 2017-era activity, and community discussions from early 2019 described the company as no longer printing cards. The associated eCRATER storefront is empty.

The Cardmire Etsy account remains active, but it currently sells graded comic books and unrelated collectibles. That continued activity does not indicate that the MTG replica business has returned.

No current pricing, production time, shipping coverage, return policy, reprint policy, or satisfaction guarantee is available for the former MTG operation. Cardmire should therefore be treated as a historical company rather than a current ordering option.

Product Classification

Cardmire belongs in the replica-style product category. Its historical products were designed to closely reproduce official card faces and backs and should not be grouped with clearly marked playtest cards, custom-backed proxies, fan-created cards, or general commercial printing services.

Replica-style cards should never be sold or represented as authentic Magic cards. They are also not permitted as ordinary player-supplied cards in sanctioned events.
